Milk Bar burger date for Valentine’s Day :) we opted to sit at the bar even though a table was set out for us ^^”

Burgers, oh glorious burgers make me so happy. The boy and I never make a big deal out of Valentine’s Day since our anniversary is two days later (16th Feb) so we don’t exchange gifts/flowers (unless we spontaneously decide to make something, I like sentimental gifts but this year I asked for Twix ^^) but we’ll still go out for a yummy meal. Last year we ate pork buns at Momofuku Seiobo bar and this year we went on a burger date at Chef Dan McGuirt’s newest establishment - Jazz City Milk Bar, Darlinghurst. I’m not a fan of set menus for Valentine’s Day but still like to have something a bit special so the boy pre-ordered the luxurious Ultimate Benjamin Franklin Hamburger Meal for me (I shared though!) :)

Southern Fried Chicken Burger - Chicken breast fried country style, Tabasco, American cheddar cheese, tomato, lettuce and Ranch dressing $15
*All hot dogs and burgers come with French fries with a choice of seasoning including Southwest, Creole and Jamaican jerk

Succulent Southern crispy chicken breast fillets tossed in Tabasco seasoning with my favourite melty American cheddar cheese :D And nothing goes better with fried chicken than ranch dressing (really, ranch goes superbly with everything!)

A&W root beer float
$8
Spiders/floats always take me back to my childhood where my siblings and I would pour cans of Coke & Sprite, half n half into glasses and top it up with lots of vanilla ice cream til it would overflow with flavoured carbon dioxide foam. The aim of the game was to try and lap it up before it trickled down the sides of the glass ^^. Even now I still get filled with glee as I try to beat the foam before it drips! It’s the only way to enjoy it properly! Haha the boy wasn’t too impressed that I made it overflow a little; root beer float 1: me 0.

Foie gras milkshake and duck fat fried french fries
Give me fries that are crispy on the outside with fluffy innards and you’ll see me cooing in delight. The boy had a few fries (when I saw few.. I mean 2-3 haha) and picked up on a slight meaty taste which I explained was from the duck fat - he guessed beef fat which was pretty close! Foie gras milkshake. Weird? Just a little but surprisingly good! Lots of creamy foie gras ice cream, malt, full cream milk, all topped off with whipped cream. It was more like a sweet thick malt shake with itty bitty gobs of foie gras, very minuscule pieces so it’s not overwhelming in a liver-y taste. Very rich and would recommend sharing this, but if you’re not a fan of foie gras, you may want to swap it for one of their other milkshake flavours (peanut butter with malt is pretty damn delish!).

Ultimate Benjamin Franklin Hamburger comes w/ fries and milkshake$100
Whilst it is a pretty hefty price to pay but the quality is top-notch and they don’t skimp on the quantity either! Luxuriously decadent burger worth the Benjamin’s and was brought out on a ‘silver’ mirror platter :) My fancy ‘fast-food’ (there is a bit of a wait for the food) meal did not disappoint at all. A few couples came over to drool over this fine specimen and we had to explain that we pre-ordered it from their ‘secret menu’ (burger not shown on dine-in menu) lol. I really love the Jazz City dessert pies but we were too full to even fit a cookie or fairy floss :( but were extremely satisfied with our burgers to care! Going to be back for their coconut cream pie, banana split and grape fairy floss :D Hope everyone had a great Valentine’s Day too!
