Delayed post but this was from September for my sister’s 17th birthday where we had dinner at Arras, had the most amazing cranberry & lime mocktail concocted especially for my sister and went a little overboard with their sugary petit fours :)

To make my life difficult, she requested that her birthday cake be a red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting.. “must be a cake and not a cupcake” :/ Not wanting to disappoint her, I went on my search to find her a red velvet cake. Can you believe that there are barely any patisseries in Sydney that are able/willing to make it as a cake O_O I had a few quotes from people I found online who usually make it for weddings but they were going to charge me minimum $160! But thanks to Ramenraff’s tip-off, I discovered D’ough Espresso, The Galeries Victoria :)

“5 layers of moist chocolate sponge w/ fresh raspberries and smooth cream cheese through each layer”

Whilst it doesn’t compare to the ones I’ve had in America, it’s still a pretty good cake. Very nicely layered and it had a good ratio of cream cheese frosting to cake. I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn’t dry and crumbly at all, though not the moistest chocolate sponge I’ve had. Overall the birthday girl was happy and that’s all that mattered :)
