Patisse, Waterloo (Moved to Chippendale)

patisse
Mum loves to go high tea ($45 or 52pp sorry can’t remember exactly) so when Mothers Day came around, I made reservations at Patisse - Waterloo to celebrate with the family (minus dad since he was jet lagged). Once we sat down, we were offered coffee and tea by the friendly staff. Not long after, one of the pastry chef’s came out and gave a Mothers Day speech and explained everything that was on the high tea stand. And everyone received a mini Flower by Kenzo perfume ^^ such a nice touch!
coffee tea
Free-flowing coffees and T2 tea!
high tea sandwiches
Wagyu beef pie
Flakey, buttery, melt-in-your-mouth pastry and tender chunks of wagyu. I’ve always known that the French can make a mean pastry but Vincent Gaddan’s pastry is the best I’ve had in Sydney! Everyone else agreed on that as well :) If you’re ever in store, you should definitely try the pie or any other pastries!
Spinach fetta quiche
Another delicious creation which the only vice was that we only had one per person! My brother dislikes quiches as he finds them a bit too rich but even he was very pleased with how it tasted.
Cheese gourgeres choux pastry - three cheese: parmesan, blue cheese, gruyere
These came out piping hot and we were told to pop these cheesy bites into our mouths before they went cold. Made from three cheeses of parmesan, blue cheese and gruyere, these were absolutely moreish! Even though we didn’t have any scones, these choux puffs were a delightful replacement :)
Chicken sandwich with mustard
High tea sandwiches tend to be what I look forward to most so I was a little disappointed when I saw these since there was only one selection. It looked quite plain but as the saying goes, never judge a book by it’s cover. Each bite was a mouthful of soft bread, moist chicken breast, creamy mayonnaise, and mustard. Surprisingly enough, these were one of the best high tea sandwiches I have ever had!

Pistachio and rose cake
After devouring the savoury bites, I thought they would have been a tough act to follow but the desserts here are just as good! Moist and light pistachio cake which was nutty in flavour and didn’t taste artificial. Topped with a smooth white chocolate mousse, fragrant raspberry & rose petal compote jam, raspberry jelly cubes, and pistachio crumbs.
Lemon meringue tarts
Perfect balance of tartness from the lemon curd and a sweet fluffy meringue.
Passion fruit pannacotta on a coconut brownie
This was my favourite of the desserts! The passion fruit flavour was really intense and was a great combination with the coconutty brownie :)
